The Richmond Shire Council Australia Day Awards acknowledge the contributions of local individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions to the local community. These awards recognise those who have shown a willingness to lend a helping hand, concern for the enviroment or participated in sport, arts or cultural diversity. The nomination form outlines the 2010 Australia Day criteria and eligibility. The categories available for nomintion are, Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Achievement Award, Senior Sportsperson of the Year, Junior Sportsperson of the Year, Cultural Award and lastly Sports Administrator of the Year.
